近日，关于“红绿灯新国标”的话题引起热议，大量网友质疑其缺乏合理性。

对此，公安部交通管理科学研究所22日回应，不存在2022年实施的“新国标”。目前，各地在用的道路交通信号灯符合现行标准，不需要进行更换。

不管是哪一种红绿灯，都是为了遵守交通规则。

一、那么“红绿灯”的英文怎么说呢？

红绿灯≠red and green light

因为红绿灯不只有红绿两种颜色，还有黄色，因此不能翻译为red and green light。

红绿灯（交通信号灯）正确的表达是：

traffic lights

traffic signals

二、“闯红灯”用英语怎么说？

闯红灯：run a red light

释义：

to drive past a red traffic light (which is a signal to stop)

开车闯过红灯(表示停车的信号)

英语中闯红灯的“闯”，不是用“break”这个动词，常用“run”，闯红灯就是“run the red light”

还有一种情况，比如看到左右都没有车，直接过马路。这个时候是用jump the light(s)表示，这里的 jump 表示忽略的意思，忽略了禁止让他通行的灯。

释义：

to pass through an intersection while the traffic light is signaling "stop"

当交通灯发出停止信号时仍通过十字路口

例：

Don't jump the red light.

不要闯红灯。

还有一个说法 jaywalk 乱穿马路

例：

My sister got a ticket because of jaywalking— crossing the road without heeding the oncoming traffic.

我姐姐收到一张罚款单，原因是她没留意迎面交通情况，乱过马路。

三、交通信号灯里，黄灯的英文是什么？

国外的“黄灯”通常叫：Amber light

即“琥珀色的灯”，amber 表示“琥珀”

也可称它为“yellow light”或直接一个”yellow”

例：The traffic lights changed to/turned green as we approached the junction.

我们接近十字路口时，交通信号灯变成了绿色。

“闯黄灯”的常规说法是 running a yellow light（amber light）。

也有人把“闯黄灯”称为“squeezing the lemon”（榨柠檬），算是俚语。

四、人行横道，斑马线的英文怎么说？

人行横道，斑马线：PED XING

pedestrian XING/Pedestrian crossing，常常缩写成PED XING。

除了上面这个说法，斑马线还可以说“zebra crossing”，zebra就是斑马。

例

All car should stop at thezebra crossing.

所有车辆都要在斑马线前停下。
